Modify Claim Block Modifier
« on: September 22, 2015, 01:11:43 am »
So I recently tried to raid a base. Though I recently spoke with HotRod about the durability modifier I wanted to try it for myself as we had extra fuel. I went to the base with 28 cans of fuel and after first using 3 cans to break 1 piece of dirt I switched approaches and tried going through the stone directly above what I believed to be the base. I eventually exhausted every single can of fuel I brought I only broke through two blocks of regular stone and damaged a reinforced concrete about 2/3rd's of the way. While I understand the importance of protecting people's hard work, raiding as it stands right now is almost impossible. I am just requesting the modifier be looked at and possibly reduced. I understand that ultimately it is HotRod's decision and respect the decision you make either way. Just would like to be able to raid as well as kill players. As it stands now I just feel as though half the risk of living in the south is missing right now. Appreciate the consideration.

It's a difficult balance. Ultimately I want people to feel comfortable enough to PvP--I would rather we have a high modifier with 100% PvP as opposed to no PVP at all.

I have been mulling on the modifier for some time and until they add something in to make raiding a base worthwhile I don't see the point.

Raiding someone's base should be about trying to acquire something unique and worthwhile...not breaking into all their chests and taking stuff you already have.

Add in the fact the modifier does not change between offline/online and this means I am limited. I would like it to be a low modifier while players are online yet high while offline so we don't have only offline raids. Nothing turns people off of PvP more than only having people raid you while you are offline and losing what's in your chests. Once you have been raided it works like a home invasion for most; they don't feel safe and now they have to build elsewhere. If they lost their stuff it just makes it worse and in my experience people just stop playing until a later build as opposed to starting over in the same build.

Try throwing a turd in their base and see if the zombies open a door for you trying to get it. That would be cool.
