Hello everyone,

I am not sure if I'll get love or hate for this suggestion, but here goes anyway:
It seems to me like current difficulty settings are a bit too forgiving, which may lower some of the fun to be had in game.

Namely:
  • Drop on death - keeping the backpack means almost no negative impact for dying, which I believe makes things a bit to easy...In fact, you can move everything from toolbelt to the backpack and keep just a stone axe...
  • Day is 60 minutes - on my first login, that was enough to go scavange and build a small shed long before the day was over, without much pressure. I feel that a good compromise could be achieved with, for example, 45m
  • Air drops - I am not sure if the airdrops despawn eventually, but at least they stay there for a long time.
Each drop as a ton of resources (like weapons, ammo, food and rebar), and getting these means there is no longer a need to scavange around cities and such.

The suggestions above aren't meant to make things hard, only a bit more interesting on the long run.
The game itself is only hard(ish) at the very beginning, and gets easier after a few days. If settings are too lenient, all the fun goes away really fast, IMHO.

Cheers!

Let me first thank you for joining the forum. It will be much easier to keep in touch with everyone.

Ok, I perfectly understand and agree with your sentiments in part.

1.  As far as the 'drop on death' settings, It is set on toolbelt only because that is what the vast majority of players are comfortable with. Of course if there is a majority of our players that want to change that I am certainly open to the idea. I will make mention that for the first couple of hours of Alpha 8 (due to mislabeled config settings), we had backpack drop on death and virtually every player complained.

2.  I am definitely cool with the idea of reducing the Day setting, it does seem a bit excessive.

3.  Airdrops were just added so I think we just need to get a feel for them and make some adjustments there. Maybe once every 7 days like loot respawn. I'm not quite sure what the limit is as it is set in hours not days.

I think we should give it a little more time to see how the current settings lay out because I just increased difficulty to maximum as well as zombie spawn to maximum. I will create a poll to see what everyone wants as far as the drop on death settings first. I will create a poll section to the forums for these purposes. As always, I encourage everyone to feel free to express their ideas.  :)

I really like the difficulty at max and zombies at max.  But I also love the long days, I really feel like I can get something done, take long trips across the map, go on long raids against other player forts.   and the nights are longer as well.

I admit I am soft and weak, I like the belt drop.

I also like the daily crate supply especially as the server gets more people.  I am anxious to see how the PvP works out around them.  Part of the issue to the frequent game updates.  We really have a very short window to create anything like a great base.  I am a builder like most on the server seem to be and I want to build big, bold and broad.  The crates let me do that.

Hmmm. I understand your point, insane, and in many ways I agree. However, due to my playstyle, I really like the resource drops and death drops as they are. I'm a builder, not a scavenger, so I like the massive resource bonuses. Even with them, I'm often low on building materials because I simply build so much (most recently: WWII bunker). Also, I'd be reluctant to part with massive amounts of stuff every time I die. Call me cowardly, but considering how often I kick the bucket, it would make massive building projects much slower.

I admit, though, that the days do seem a little long. Sorry, Dad.
