Before I get started, I want you to know that this server is -exactly- what I have been looking for, PvP enabled with PvE playstyle.  The community and economy are the highest selling points to me. 

My biggest gripe is the day length, 60 minutes just has me biting my nails and second guessing if I can make it to A and get back to B in X number of minutes.  Early game wrecks me because of this, an entire day is needed to reach the trader, an entire day is needed to repair and refortify after horde night, etc., and these days are really valuable when you are first getting started.  I'm used to 120 minute days but am interested to see what 100 or even 90 minute days feel like.

Second gripe is the dogs, I bled out after getting bit by one from a whopping SEVEN blocks away.  The hitboxes have been really screwed up for all AI for a while now and I've played on a modded server before that reduced only the dog's run speed to 80% or 90%, I forget which, but it helped tremendously with them.

A few things that may help you with travel.

I used my /sethome command placed near the trader. So I could tele to the trader with a full inventory and trade/sell items off quickly.  I know others prefer it to bring them home, but its also useful in others ways like mentioned.

You can also buy a minibike instantly with the vote rewards. Making homemade biofuel from zombie fat is easy and gives a good quantity of gas per biofuel.

In regards to nighttime coming while trying to complete a journey. By the time you get to higher level, night time will not even be a threat. I travel all the time at night, on foot or bike. With a strong weapon and perks, running zombies are no issue unless its an entire horde.
