I'm wondering if their coding for the random generator will spawn other 'cities' because like you 3rdman, spots of civilization seem interesting to me for several reasons. They will attract players and thus be exciting PvP zones and holding one as territory like you said could be fun. They also attract more z's if they're like Dierville so there's that added layer and then of course more loot. We already know there's a central town where we spawn but that's going to be PvP off on our map so that newbies and starting out, everyone's got a fair shake at gathering loot and not getting camped by pvp in those first critical hours on your first day... when you are starving and have nowhere to hide haha.

So far all we've seen from the dev diary on random is a lot of open countryside and a few cabins. They may be tweaking that now because it's not spawning enough 'civilization' spots and that may also be something that has to be adjusted as the game develops I'm sure.

Full blown cities, with large buildings and such definitely need to be in the random generation but not very frequent. If we learn there's a city, say 3 days out from the main spawn point - that could be really interesting!

Fantastic News! I try to watch the official forums but the posts are moving pretty fast in the Dev Diary thread and I don't have time to camp it for updates haha.

Ya the 7D2D Forums are worthless, I’ve been banned from them since like May. The moderators talk **** about the game and developers and ban anyone that questions them.
