ok here is how the game will work  i will put 6 locked storage chests in a PvP town right near the center, in the middle of the road or alley. I will give the exact location  to the chests at 20:00 the game day before the contest begins the contest will run from 4:00 to 22:00 that game day. I will load the chests just before 4:00 if i see any players in the town before i load the chests i will not load the chests till they are out of sight of me(if you kill me before i load the chest the game wont be much fun right no prizes i wont have anything on my belt either until i have loaded the chests) please wait outside the city until 4:00 at 22:00 game is over (the PvP may not be)  i will try to take the loot from the chests and run north to safety remember if i make it out of the city limits i will be in the north.
 The game will start about 13 hrs from the time of this post   

here is what will be in the chests

chest 1.) 1 flawless steel pick ax, 1 flawless shovel, 1 flawless fireman ax
chest 2.) 1 flawless pistol,  100 rounds of 9mm bullets
chest 3.) 1 flawless mini bike tire, 1 flawless crossbow, 100 stone bolts
chest 4.) 5 med kits
chest 5.) 10 medicated bandages
chest 6.) 1 beer

I will be in the town guarding the chests probably not to close to them but i will be there watching them and hey who knows who else will be there we may have a royal rumble happen

They're not killing in pvp, they're killing themselves accidentally or friends... And this an issue, try as we may getting pvp in some arena for some mass event doesn't work.

Best to let it happen organically.

most people that claim top be "pvp" merely live in the south and don't look for others.

PVe players generally live north cuz they don't want pvp at all, no matter how structured.

Welcome to my world of trying to encourage pvp.

As of now I am thinking on ways to stimulate organic PVP and reward players for doing so.

One step we have discussed and that is making all cities pvp.

"Arena style" is what I always do. Enter an area, lay sleeping bag down and maybe a chest etc, and go hunting. The idea of travelling 14k without laying another bag down is whack .

It's possible. But if we are a mature, friendly community, let me ask you this:

Would a mature person whine and get pissy over anything? Or would they be willing to try something new out with an open mind?

They could consider how much of their game time is spent in a city. I'd wager a very small amount of most people's time is spent actually in a city.

How dependent are they upon cities for loot after random gen 3.0 added little cities more frequently, and made GZ a smaller city? Considering stores being found off of roads frequently?

How often do you actually run into other players and then on top of that run into players in cities?

The rule won't affect hardly anyone, I've been watching the last 2 builds and most players do not encounter other players. I can list the number of times on both hands I have seen someone in a city, and it usually is the same 3 or 4 people. Thew number of times someone has encountered another player in a city if their name is not h0tr0d is under 5. In 365 game days...

And perhaps it is a good litmus test to see what kind of people we want. Do you want someone who whines and complains or is willing to try different things? There was a huge debate and hissy fits being thrown when I wanted GZ to be PVP. Did the sky fall? When I made it so PvE players couldn't claim certain POIs people were concerned.

Same old story, just a different day. I have added so much in terms of store contents and custom recipes, it is hardly necessary for someone to absolutely positively enter a city.

I will try and encourage player interaction,. and have been happy to see players doing so more and more this build. I don't want good people to leave, but I also am not going to cater to anyone who is close-minded or whining. If people have concerns, fine. If they can voice those concerns intelligently, great.

I would ask people think things through completely and open their minds to the possibility to try something. Nothing saying I can't change rules on the fly if something is server-breaking.
