Title: Organising pvp
Post by: Admiral Fatts on May 21, 2014, 05:21:25 pm
Had a talk with madman, where he said put it here and to a vote.

Next server reset, who would be interested in a north vs south game?

I'll put up a map.
(its on facebook since the forum complains the file is too big)

Basically if you are on team north you kill team south, and vice versa. The DMZ (burned area) is a free for all.
Air drops are first come first serve, but don't go team killing.

Something I forgot to add would be somewhere central DMZ would be an Armistice Station of some sort. Peaceful gatherings only.

North v South seems somewhat disproportionate with regards to size and available resources methinks, but interesting concept

I know how you people enjoy your PvP. What about those that do not wish to participate? I would never vote against it but I wouldn't vote for it.

I have an area I am eyeballing that should be out of the general line of fire however what happens when I go out scavenging? Again I understand the rules for Diers, Grave and supply drops and have no issue getting shot and or defending myself in those instances.

I wonder if it might be easier to just arrange pvp amongst people wishing to participate. One of the challenges with any system of pvp at the moment is that it is hard to identify people at a distance because name tags do not render until you are almost face-to-face. Perhaps, if some people want an ongoing struggle between factions, they should wear side-specific clothing to identify themselves. If you wish to participate in the pvp, you have to be wearing the appropriate article of clothing. As headgear is, as far as I know, the only customizable clothing currently in the game, perhaps each faction should pick a hat. If you want to do North vs. South, perhaps those in the south faction should wear cowboy hats when participating and those in the north wear baseball caps. Players not wearing a hat or those wearing skullcaps or mining helmets would be deemed not participating in the conflict (except obviously for the pvp rules in Dier/Grave/drop sites).

Interesting suggestion and something of this nature may lend itself to when the map is larger - I am sort of partial to the current setup with specific zones being KOS and airdrops - If 2 factions wish to duke it out they can make it know and as mentioned before somehow find a way to separate them from the crowd with regards to appearance (not sure how long until we have customizable clothing but it is on the way i hear)

I wanted to find a way to like what Kzalor said even more but I couldn't.  Hats, such a great and simple solution.

If a North and South faction were to develop how would we go about keeping the sides relatively balanced as far as numbers goes?

keeping numbers balanced would be impossible in this situation because all the players are not online at the same time.
