Title: *wave*
Post by: NegativeX on November 14, 2014, 06:42:48 am
Just wanted to give an update on where I've been.

I recently, after trying for the last year, was hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad and I am currently in schooling/training to become a train conductor/engineer. Training is pretty intense... so all my time and mental energy has been towards that at the moment.

Should graduate in a couple weeks and should have a bit more free time to fend off zombies and rebuild the world. ;)

That is fantastic news buddy. I'm so happy for you. It's always heartwarming to hear when good things happen to good people.  ;D

OK, ok. When you say "training" is intense... did you mean training you went through, or is "training" a term for well, doing **** with a train?

Grats!

Congratulations NegativeX that's a very solid and interesting job you've landed! My Dad was a brakeman for the railroad for many years before an injury put him out of commission.

Maybe someday we'll get trains in 7DTD and you can take us down the tracks so we can leap out of the cars a' la Divergent style haha.

And when I say, "training is intense" I meant the schooling, haha...

Bummer to hear that about your dad. ;\ We actually go over accident reports daily and railroading is definitely a job that you have to constantly have your situational awareness about ya... one small lapse in concentration and that's it. And even then, there's just unforeseen accidents that happen, like rail breakage.

We're actually starting out doing on the job training as Brakemen/Switchmen for the first few weeks, then onto Conductor training shortly after.

I've never been accused of railroading someone.
