i only worry that the new players will not understand the north south pvp/pve and there will be many who violate the rule.

I can't say why the server is dead but I can tell you why I only played a couple of weeks each of these past couple of seeds (my player name is Omnibus).  I might be in the minority and I'm not saying I disagree with how people like to play, but it seems like loot is way too plentiful. I get all the books really fast and have great gear way too early.  I didn't like the addition of the mall...although I like the idea of it, but there's too much easy loot in the apartments and too easy to access traders.  I don't know that making it public will get and keep people or not, but I lose interest fast with all the changes over the last number of seeds.  Again, maybe you find that this is what draws people to your server, but my wife and I prefer more of a challenge.  The obligatory "you can choose to use them or not" is a fair point...but I like to PvP as well, and everyone should be on a level playing field for that.

I have not been playing simply because my computer couldn't handle the game after the previous major update.
I still say hello on discord from time to time.
I am getting a new computer in the near future, so hopefully I will be able to play again.

I 100% totally agree with this, last night I joined two populated servers but it was littered with loot, the game should be as vanilla as possible with some 'perks' available for grinding, a shop is plenty for this.  There was even a situation where people are staying in hotel rooms and not leaving the hotel so they have to make it an incentive to leave!

Another server I was picked up in a mad max vehicle, nice and friendly, taken to a huge complex and there was storage with every item you can think of......I said my thanks and logged off never to return....

On this server, I was wowed by the HQ, but then I saw all the spoon feeding available to people and that would be a little off putting to mem within 2 minutes I had about 3 guns, all the tools xyz…..  I spent weeks grinding to get the auger, weeks and weeks and weeks and the reward in the end was very satisfying, yes I mean time is a premium but short cuts take the fun out....I mean all is left would be to build and you have servers like pimp my house 5000xp for that.  2x XP is probably good enough without all the mega spawning of loot...more zombies, less loot....make even finding water hard!  If servers have to reset, well how about lengthening the days out abit more to like 120mins or more?  60mins is nothing I find....

I think in a pve/pvp split, grinding is the best way, any idiots are unlikely to grind, they want short cuts and to spoil peoples fun with the least amount of barriers.

On another note, the game seems to be going more fallouty with the quests and things, I wonder if it would be possible to have factions at all in the game where instead of PVP deathmatch it was kind of teamdeathmatch etc but with some kind of goal required, could be fun.

The days on our server are set to 90 minutes.  There will be more balancing of loot and such in the coming seeds.  We won't really know how A19 is going to change things until we play it.  It's always a work in progress.

How is best to manage that?  What happens in self defence, I guess its drama Madman can do without but some kind of policing will be needed for sure.  If someone attacks then I would expect the community to retaliate with full force and 'legally' be allowed to dispatch of said nomads, but then it could always violate the rules and we could all end up in jail  :)

Also, our mod developer has some exciting new things in store for us.  Modded vehicles have been reworked a bit, casino machines have been completely overhauled, mega boss arena is almost finished and a new capture the flag event is getting it's final touches as well.  These are just a few of the cool things coming soon.

In future wipes, the apartment buildings will be locked when the server starts. No one will be able to go into those rooms to take the loot. It was supposed to be like that this seed, but that was overlooked before it was too late.

As far as factions, many people do not want to PVP, and if people want to start factions in the South, that is totally fine with us.  However, it is not something we would want to manage.

Madman is always up for reviewing the rate of loot spawn. The reason it's so high right now is because it was set when we had a lot of players playing. Most people are in the North and having 20 active players in the North makes people want a faster loot spawn.  We could have turned it down when the player population dropped off, but no one complained about it until now.

Madman has always been open to suggestions and doing what the majority of the server once, when feasible. If you guys have suggestions, always feel free to ask!

My vote is not only no, but -hell- no! We don't need a bunch of idiot fuckboys coming onto the server and causing havoc. I prefer to keep the server both private and civil.

As long as the server can be Moderated there is no reason not to. If there is issue in having active mods watching the server for "idiot fuckboys coming onto the server and causing havoc" then maybe not.

Been on and off various servers and I find the ones with active admins seem to be the best. Most of the time. This one shouldn't be any different.

I'm not making it public at this time, so no worries.  I just wanted to gauge opinion on the matter.  In case it's something we might consider to do in the future...if all else were to fail in keeping population up.

My vote is yes.  It's boring as hell with no one to talk to or team up with.  The people who are voting 'no' I rarely if ever see on the server on the weekends.  I also think you should bring back the military chopper, and start a 'monthly donor' program for people who want to access it, to cover the costs.  Also you should reduce the loot rate, at least temporarily, until you can get more people on.   The server does need more people, though.  And on a related note, there's another hot topic going titled "Topic: Incentivizing PvP and the South".  More people also means more PVP.

I don't play here a lot (just because I don't play 7 Days a lot anymore) but I like this server because of the white list.  It makes it a little more effort to get on so a lot of trolls, griefers and cheaters avoid this server.  I used to play public 7DtD servers (both PVP and PVE) and all the public servers had massive issues.  Perhaps certain things are better now like the anti-cheat (maybe?) but the amount of servers with cheaters coming in just to nuke bases and stuff was out of control.  There's not many white list servers; why not just go play on another public one instead of changing this one?

Agree with all that, I've no place to speak I know given I've not played here but as an impartial player I would imagine existing people who abandoned this server might also be in their own little cliques so someone like myself would struggle more with 20 existing people than having the opportunity to team up with new people who are in the same boat....I prefer to engage with others and team up against the evil that needs vanquishing, in the most brutal ways possible! :)
